Society’s Imprint

Society’s Imprint

Society’s Imprint A MIXED MEDIA HAND DRAWN THEN PAINTED AND ALTERED DIGITALLY explores how societal pressures and expectations get so deeply ingrained in our minds that they’re almost impossible to shake off.

On the subject’s forehead, the words “Society is mindf***ing us” are hand written as a reminder of how deeply we’re influenced by external forces that we might even believe that these thoughts are own, that they are made and written by us and we embody them.

The different colors and filters I used represent the changing people we become as we grow and evolve, yet no matter how much we try to change, society’s imprint is still carved into our foreheads, deep in our minds. It’s about how these societal pressures remain with us, and become us no matter how much we change.

This project is a reflection on the clash between individuality and societal expectations, and how they leave an imprint on who we are.

The process was an experiment in blending traditional art with digital manipulation, allowing me to mess with colors, and lighting to amplify the emotional weight of the piece.

Its not just about the visuals, but the feeling of being caught in a system that’s hard to break free from.
